Napco, also known as National Potteries corporation started in 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio. Napco started as a manufacturer of floral containers but later concentrated on importing glassware, pottery, and ceramic items from Japan. Japanese ceramic imports peaked from 1956 to the early 1960s. I estimate that this is the time period that my figurines were produced. Napco also produced Napcoware figurines which are different than mine. They appear lesser in quality and always have a green base.
My collection consists of specific Napco pieces that may be called Hummel-type, Hummel copy-cats or Hummel-esque. Many of my figurines are very similiar to Hummels but they were not produced by M.I. Hummel. Instead they were produced in Japan (and imported by Napco) at a time when companies freely copied each others work. Some of these figurines where originally sold with a hang-tag stating "Genuine Hummel Reproduction".
My figurines are all approximately 5" in height and 4" or less inches wide. All have a tan base except for Apple Tree Romance which is brown. There are various different labels seen on the bottom of the figurines. I have photographed them for you. The numbering and name on the bottom lead me to believe that they were sold in sets. For example, I have found 4 figurines stamped AH1B and various others stamped AH1D-AH1M, SH1A-SH1G, and SH3C-SH5G. Figurines that have more than one figure are labeled A2626B-A3266C. I think the numbering system will be more apparent when I complete the sets.
I obtained all of these figurines either on ebay or at estate sales. I paid anywhere from $2-$25 each, with the average being only $10.00.
Thanks for viewing my collection. These figurines are NOT for sale. However, I am interested in adding to my collection and will consider buying figurines that I am missing. Please feel free to send me an email to the address below to chat or share information but I cannot give appraisals. E-bay is the best source to check the current value of your figurine.
